The Patterson-Schwartz Middletown Sales Center is conveniently located along the U.S. 301 corridor, the hub of the area's activity. Middletown is located about 25 miles north of Dover and south of the C&D canal. Easy access to Routes 1 and 301 make Middletown an easy commute from nearby cities via I-95 and to the beach areas heading south on Route 1. Middletown, once dominated by farmland and open space, experienced the urban sprawl of the 1990s with a proliferation of new homes communities surrounding the town center. Housing includes single family, semi-detached homes, ranches and townhomes with colonial architecture a dominate theme. Many of the neighborhoods were developed to provide homeowners with access to open spaces, more acreage and amenities not found in the northern part of New Castle County. Despite the rapid growth, Middletown has preserved its historic small town feel.
