About Kristin Barnekov-Short

Unlocking doors to dreams! I’m Kristin Barnekov-Short, and I’m dedicated to turning your real estate goals into reality. As a lifelong Delawarean, I was raised in Newark, attended the University of Delaware, and then settled to raise my family in North Wilmington.

My journey in real estate began when my husband and I purchased a three-unit building in Wilmington and moved into the first floor while renting out the other units and our original home. This marked the beginning of  25 years of investing in commercial and residential real estate—at one point owning and managing up to 50 units!

In addition to my personal investment in real estate, I have held leadership positions across various sectors, from non-profit to public and small business. My extensive experience in planning and project management equips me with the ability to see the big picture while also paying attention to details and knowing the steps required to bring it across the finish line. Trained in facilitation techniques, I bring these skills to every real estate client, ensuring a smooth and successful transaction. My career has always been rooted in service, whether assisting individual clients or serving the public at large. Overall, my work experiences all have service at their core and I feel most accomplished when helping people achieve their goals.

I currently live in Brandywine Hundred with my husband and two Labradoodles and have two adult daughters. My daughter, McKinley, lives in Valencia, Spain, and my daughter, Rowan, lives in San Diego. As a family, we love to travel and explore the outdoors. My husband and I are currently learning to speak Spanish, and we have taken up surfing.
